Simulating Measurements of the Martian Magnetic Field

Deep Space Test Bed Experiment -- 2005 -- Auburn University

PreLaunch Images, May 20th, 2005

Images from Initial Integration at NSSTC, April 6th, 2005

The prototype is a modified version of an experiment that has already been to space aboard a NASA Orion suborbital rocket -- (http://space.auburn.edu/CHS/mag)

Structure Drawings, March 7, 2005

Here are some images of the "ProtoBoom." This shows the three magnetometers, the conditioning circuit, the coil, and data/power interfaces. This is a prototype of the actual experiment that will fly later this year. The actual experiment will send its data to the DSTB data logger as well as an on board data logger that will have protections from electromagnetic aliasing so the data can be compared to make an estimation of the electronic/magnetic noise level of the balloon experiment system. To get a better idea of the experiment purpose, read the Experiment Application --> DSTB_MarsAU.pdf.

One of the actual magnetometers being considered is the Digital Honeywell hmr2300.pdf. The data logger being considered is shown here --> DT800new.pdf

Documentation on the proposed Structure, Electronics, and Data Acquisition will be posted here by March 1st, 2005.
